{"id":6141,"date":"2025-04-16T16:30:13","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T21:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/healthy-connections.org\/?post_type=news&#038;p=6141"},"modified":"2025-04-16T16:30:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T21:30:15","slug":"hfa100families","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/healthy-connections.org\/news\/hfa100families\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy Families Arkansas Shares Impact at 100 Families Initiative Event"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Carrie Ray, Garland County Outreach Specialist for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/healthy-connections.org\/healthy-families-arkansas\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2438\">Healthy Families Arkansas<\/a><\/strong>, was a featured speaker at the recent Garland County Alliance Meeting titled <em>\u201cCaring Where It Counts: In-Home Services Making a Difference.\u201d<\/em> The meeting, held in Hot Springs and organized under the 100 Families Initiative of Garland County, brought together organizations committed to helping families move from crisis to stability through coordinated community efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing Healthy Families Arkansas, a program of Healthy Connections, Ray described the important work of providing home-based family support services to first- and second-time mothers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIdeally, we like to enroll our moms\u2014either first- or second-time moms\u2014when they&#8217;re prenatal,\u201d Ray said during her presentation. \u201cThat way, we can start providing lessons about bonding, taking care of themselves prenatally, even talk about breastfeeding, and line up all the resources they need to feel confident when the baby arrives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ray emphasized how overwhelming those early moments of parenthood can be and the value of having a consistent, supportive resource. \u201cNo matter what support you have, when you have a new baby, it&#8217;s scary. It&#8217;s overwhelming. You&#8217;re exhausted. So, we just try to be that support system for our new moms\u2014help them, encourage them, and guide them in bonding with their babies,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Healthy Families Arkansas provides no-cost services to eligible families in Garland and Polk counties.
